Founded in 1978 by Perry Sava with love and devotion, Pontos Imperial is a luxury ‘boutique’ yacht chartering firm catering exclusively to clients with the highest expectations in luxury and quality travel.

With Yacht charter being the core activity of the company, Pontos Imperial Yachts Ltd. is committed to providing excellence in sailing and all other travel related services. With over 70 years of combined experience and excellence, PIY boasts a roster of distinguished clients such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Gian Franco Ferre, Chuck Norris, Tim Allen, politicians, royalty and powerful businessmen, the company flourished, based on its reputation of excellence, integrity and knowledge of luxury yachting and travel.

The inspiring and breathtaking portfolio includes many of the world's finest yachts, offering a wide range of cruising destinations and specialised cruises mainly in Greece, the Eastern and Western Mediterranean, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

HISTORY

Our founder, Perry Sava (Perikles Hadjisava) Greek Swedish, heir to a leading Tobacco family was born in the Hague, Netherlands in August of 1917 and lived his early years in Dresden Germany and early adulthood in Hamburg, Germany during WWII. 
He was educated at prestigious schools in Great Britain, and spent his summers in Greece, with his Godfather and Father’s business partner, Evangelos Papastratos. Choosing to follow his passion for the sea and his dream to get involved in the Shipping Business, in 1949 he left Hamburg, for San Francisco, leaving behind the family tobacco ‘empire’. He worked for William Randolph Hearst publications, Eagle Ocean Transport and Orient Mid-East Lines, where he oversaw their offices and operations around the world.

In 1958, Mr. Sava founded Pontos Shipping and Trading, which he would witness grow and prosper, to eventually become one of the leaders in Trade with it’s fleet soaring across Seas and Oceans ,dropping their anchors in harbors across the Globe. In order to further feed his passion, upon his retirement in 1978, Pericles Hadjisava, a ship owner/broker, and a yachtsman himself, decided to retire and devote his energies to yachting and promote quality travel in Greece.

In 1988, a cooperation between Condoyannis Yachts and Pontos Shipping & Trading commenced, combining seventy years of expertise and excellence in the field. This marriage gave birth to Pontos Imperial Yachts. Due to Mr. Sava’s long standing, respected relationships and his honorable reputation in the International Shipping and Business World, from a hobby, it flourished into a fine boutique business. His mission had been to make travelers aware of the endless possibilities available to them when choosing to sail. His wish was, to share with the world, the boundless beauty and diversity of magical Greece and explore its beautiful traditions, history, cultural heritage, art, cuisine and adventure but above of all, to be guided by true connoisseurs and lovers of the Country.

Eternally connected to him, through their common love and respect for the sea, Perry has been succeeded by his beloved daughter Karin Kalliope Hadjisava and his two Grandchildren Tatiana and Nicholas, who are committed to keeping his legacy alive. They have since, broadened the horizons of the Pontos Imperial quality travel experience, and are striving to make the beauty of sailing and the art of travel more and more accessible to everyone, through custom itineraries, according to budget, needs and desires.
